Candy was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended the University of Alabama, Birmingham, graduating with Bachelor of Science and Masters Degrees. Candy then attended and graduated with a Juris Doctor from the Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama. Candy moved to Owensboro, Kentucky in 1987. In 1993, she opened her law office, Candy Yarbray Englebert, P.S.C. Prior to that she worked for the law firm of Holbrook, Sullivan, Mountjoy and Miller and the firm of Bamberger and Abshier.
Candy has been on the Boards of Owensboro Dance Theatre, the Owensboro Country Club, Kentucky Legal Services and Impact 100. She was Bar President of the Daviess County Bar Association in 2006. In 2010, she was honored by the Legal Services Coporation, one of ten and the only woman and solo practitioner, for providing Private Attorney Pro Bono services, a statewide award. Candy was recognized as Attorney of the Year in Daviess County and received the Pro-Bono Publico Award by the Daviess County Bar Association.
Candy has lectured at the Kentucky Bar Association and for the Daviess County Bar Association on Family Law issues. She served on the state-wide committee to re-write the Visitation Guidelines, having been selected by Hon. Sheila Nunley Farris, Henderson County Family Judge.
Candy is married to Rob Clayton and is the proud stepmom of Chase Clayton. Candy sometimes laughingly says she birthed a twelve (12) year old at her marriage to Rob. Her family, including her nephew and niece, Avery Yarbray and Lily Grace Yarbray, are her greatest joy. She loves cooking and gardening, her "therapy". Candy also believes that helping others in her Practice is her greatest reward.
